Primer
by @shabola92 · 3 min readis a time bomb: when it dies, it destroys all nonland permanents. In a blink/detonate build, the goal is making it *die* (not just exile/blink it away) using triggers that fire "on death" to reset the board while you rebuild with strong ETB creatures.
Game plan: Ramp (, , , , , Azusa, ) to land early. Then protect or intentionally kill it using , (returns only legendary creatures — perfect for the commander), Journey to Eternity, , or to bring it right back, repeatedly wiping the board in your favor while you rebuild with ETB creatures (, , , ).
Sacrifice/ETB chains: , , and enable sacrifice loops; , , and squeeze value from dying creatures. , on death, tutors any number of creatures totaling ≤6 CMC — great for reassembling pieces after a reset.
Win condition: The repeated reset is itself devastating (wipes opponents' boards while your key pieces return via reanimation). and add extra control/reset angles. You win through attrition and card/board advantage accrued across multiple resets.
Weaknesses: Reliant on somewhat fragile setups (you need a way to bring back *after* death, not merely blink it); enchantment/artifact removal breaks your loops; slow against fast aggressive decks; Bracket 3 limits hard infinite combos, so this plays more like a value/reset engine than a true combo deck.
